The Corporate Forum for Sustainable Finance is designed as a permanent network where private companies can exchange views and ideas in order to uphold and develop sustainable finance as a critical tool to combat climate change, and to foster a more sustainable and responsible society.
The founding companies are active in a variety of sectors, such as supply of e.g. electricity, infrastructure and real estate. The aspiration of the founding companies is, in short, to contribute towards and facilitate for sustainable finance, by developing a broad set of financial market instruments, such as green and sustainable bonds and loans, credit facilities, as well as other sustainable financing tools recognizing the sustainability of their issuers' business model.

Launched on 15 January 2019 by 16 European companies.
Relation to other initiatives and regulations
The Forum was launched one year after the Paris Green Bond Pledge.
The founding companies have agreed to more extensive commitments than required by the Paris Green Bond Pledge, such as integrating sustainability in financial strategies, increasing corporate presence in forums shaping the development of sustainable finance markets, as well as leverage on mutual expertise and promoting best practices on impact reporting.

As of September 2021, 23 European companies are participating in the Corporate Forum on Sustainable Finance.

In Thommessen's view, the Corporate Forum for Sustainable Finance reflects that sustainable finance is becoming an increasingly prominent issue and that investors are adapting to new trends and are willing to allocate capital based on sustainable initiatives, particularly to low-carbon and sustainable investments.
The Forum, consisting of major and influential market participants, may facilitate for practical and market-oriented, effective and targeted solutions related to the sustainable development of the finance markets and finance instruments.
